As many of you may know, we will be voting in November to elect a new president or voting to have our current one stick around for four more years. Now I do not want to make this a political post but have pointed out this fact because two issues will be of critical importance during their campaigning process: the economy and job creation. These are two issues that everyone wants answered but contrarily produces answers that everyone does not agree with. Ideas and opinions tend to cause those type of reactions though because everyone does not have the same experiences or views as to how the world should operate. This is where we come to those people who hold certain ideas and viewpoints and see to it that they are put into motion in order to provide a solution. These people can be your political leaders, your corporate leaders, your community leaders or those we call entrepreneurs. For this post we will focus on those called entrepreneurs.
Entrepreneurs are symbolic of innovation, economic development and most importantly job creation. Jobs being created and available is of the up most importance for many people living in this world of ours. Without a job how will you survive in a world that is becoming more expensive as the days go by; as with each day that passes it becomes increasingly harder to maintain. The second issue that follows the problem of unemployment is underemployment, which basically leaves people crippled in a world that values the accumulation of money. We just confirmed that the world is becoming more expensive so if the jobs available cannot provide appropriately in these circumstances then what do you do?
The burden to produce these solutions have seemed to been placed on the shoulders of those who identify themselves as entrepreneurs. It is a burden we gladly choose to take on but realistically the problem has grown much wider than what anyone expected. As unemployment lingers on and becomes the focal point of society’s conversation; you have to begin to realize the significance of its existence and the challenges that awaits those who seek out to eliminate its presence. For entrepreneurs it is difficult enough turning an idea into a business so imagine the difficulty of expanding a business into an operation consisting of multiple people. With people comes expenses, liability and risk but the biggest impediment of the bunch is expenses. As an employer you want to employ people and pay them well but the formula to this equation does not always come out perfectly. If you are over generous you can soon find yourself running out of cash. If you are a scrooge you can soon find yourself without employees; so it has to be win-win situation for those involved or more likely a mutual compromise.
The question at hand though is how do entrepreneurs create enough jobs to go around. The economy and job creation goes hand in hand but economic indicators point to the likelihood of very slow-paced growth. Slow growth means constricted cash flow, which means less capital available for entrepreneurs to grow and expand. That is why many entrepreneurs really operate as freelancers because working by yourself is more flexible and less stressful than being responsible for the financial security of others. So for those of us who choose to develop our products and services into a business that takes on employees; how do we make the thought a reality? This is where we can talk about various factors such as market research, marketing tactics and sales tactics but what we want to know is if the current environment proves stable enough to cultivate positive and consistent development.
There are so many factors we can cover that will explain the causes and reactions within the marketplace but instead we want to know how entrepreneurs can impact the marketplace. The current job situation is unsettling and if it continues this way the misery of the situation will eventually spread to those who are gainfully employed.
